BOSTON, June 29, 2023 – Natixis Investment Managers (Natixis IM) and its affiliate Loomis, Sayles & Company, announced today the launch of the Natixis Loomis Sayles Focused Growth ETF (NYSE Arca: LSGR). LSGR is Natixis IM’s fourth ETF and second ETF with Loomis Sayles.

The new ETF is managed by Aziz V. Hamzaogullari, chief investment officer and founder of the Loomis Sayles Growth Equity Strategies (GES) team. Collectively, GES manages over $70 billion in assets under management1 across a suite of growth equity products including the Loomis Sayles Growth Fund, which earned a Morningstar Analyst RatingTM of Gold (as of 9 January 2023). The team’s longest-dated strategies, including the Large Cap Growth strategy which is employed by the Fund, crosses their 17-year anniversaries at the end of this month.

A differentiated investment philosophy – supported by a proprietary seven-step research framework – underpins the GES team’s long-term, private equity approach to investing. The team seeks to invest in those few high-quality businesses with sustainable competitive advantages and profitable growth only when they trade at a discount to the GES estimate of intrinsic value.

“Through the Focused Growth ETF, we are excited to leverage our disciplined process to hone in on an even more concentrated portfolio,” Aziz Hamzaogullari said. “LSGR will hold 20 – 30 US companies only that meet our rigorous high-quality, growth, and valuation criteria. We are pleased to offer investors and asset allocators access to our long-term approach to growth equity investing via an ETF.”

Natixis IM is most well-known for being a leader in active ETFs and was one of the first issuers to launch an active semi-transparent ETF through its partnership with the New York Stock Exchange. The firm’s longest standing ETF goes back to 2017, the Natixis Loomis Sayles Short Duration Income ETF (LSST). Natixis IM’s full lineup of ETFs includes:
  • Natixis Loomis Sayles Focused Growth ETF (LSGR)
  • Natixis Loomis Sayles Short Duration Income ETF (LSST)
  • Natixis Vaughan Nelson Mid Cap ETF (VNMC)
  • Natixis Vaughan Nelson Select ETF (VNSE)
“We are thrilled to bring a new ETF to market featuring a concentrated stock portfolio and purely US exposure managed by Aziz Hamzaogullari,” said David Giunta, CEO of Natixis Investment Managers in the US. “Aziz is an established portfolio manager with a substantial asset base, a strong institutional and advisor following, and a unique vision and skill that has brought great value to his investors. In partnership with Aziz, we look forward to introducing existing and new investors to the alpha potential that the new LSGR ETF represents.”

Initially, LSGR is expected to be available through Natixis IM platform partners such as Fidelity, Schwab, Pershing and Envestnet with additional platforms to be announced in the near future.
1 US $70 billion assets under management as of May 31, 2023.

This ETF is different from traditional ETFs – traditional ETFs tell the public what assets they hold each day; this ETF will not. This may create additional risks. For example, since this ETF provides less information to traders, they may charge you more money to trade this ETF’s shares. Also, the price you pay to buy or sell ETF shares on an exchange may not match the value of the ETF’s portfolio. These risks may be even greater in bad or uncertain markets. See the ETF prospectus for more information.

The Morningstar Analyst Rating is not a credit or risk rating. It is a subjective evaluation performed by the fund analysts of Morningstar, Inc. Morningstar evaluates funds based on five key pillars, which are process, performance, people, parent, and price. Morningstar’s analysts use this five pillar evaluation to identify funds they believe are more likely to outperform over the long term on a risk-adjusted basis. Analysts consider quantitative and qualitative factors in their research, but the assessment and weighting of each of the five pillars is driven by the analyst’s overall assessment and overseen by Morningstar’s Analyst Rating Committee. The approach serves not as a formula but as a framework to ensure consistency across Morningstar’s global coverage universe.

The Analyst Rating scale ranges from Gold to Negative, with Gold being the highest rating and Negative being the lowest rating. A fund with “Gold” rating distinguishes itself across the five pillars and has garnered the analysts’ highest level of conviction. A fund with a “Silver” rating has notable advantages across several, but perhaps not all, of the five pillars – strengths that give the analysts a high level of conviction. A “Bronze”-rated fund has advantages that outweigh the disadvantages across the five pillars, with sufficient level of analyst conviction to warrant a positive rating. A fund with a “Neutral” rating isn’t seriously flawed across the five pillars, nor does it distinguish itself very positively. A “Negative” rated fund is flawed in at least one if not more pillars and is considered an inferior offering to its peers. The Morningstar Analyst Rating should not be used as the sole basis in evaluating a fund. Morningstar Analyst Ratings are based on Morningstar’s current expectations about future events; therefore, in no way does Morningstar represent ratings as a guarantee nor should they be viewed by an investor as such. Morningstar Analyst Ratings involve unknown risks and uncertainties which may cause Morningstar’s expectations not to occur or to differ significantly from what we expected.
