Types of Information Gathered
We collect personal information regarding our investors and shareholders on applications, forms, transaction histories, and correspondence (electronic, written, and telephonic). Personal information may also be gathered and made available to authorized associates through complaints, issue resolution events, data inputs to Natixis websites, issuance of required mailings, regulatory monitoring and retention, and shareholder voting. Personal information collected includes: identifiers such as real name, alias, postal address, unique personal identifier, online identifier, Internet Protocol address, email address, account name, social security number, driver’s license number, passport number, or other similar identifiers; telephone number; financial information, such as investor account name and number; and information regarding protected characteristics.
We also collect personal information about our business contacts through surveys, data inputs to Natixis websites, interactions with electronic marketing material and employer platforms, conversations, and sales reports. Personal information collected includes: identifiers such as real name, alias, postal address, unique personal identifier, online identifier, Internet Protocol address, email address, account name, social security number, driver’s license number, passport number, or other similar identifiers; signature; telephone number; geolocation; internet or electronic network activity; information regarding protected characteristics; professional or employment information; education information; financial information; commercial information, including trading history, sales activity, and preferred products; and inferences drawn from any of the information identified above to create a profile reflecting preferences, characteristics, predispositions, behavior, or attitudes. A portion of the data collected is statistical in nature and is not generally attributable to any specific individual.
Natixis collects trustee information to comply with auditing requirements, regulatory disclosures and mailings, and accounts payable processes. Trustee personal information collected includes: identifiers such as a real name, alias, postal address, unique personal identifier, online identifier, Internet Protocol address, email address, account name, social security number, driver's license number, passport number, or other similar identifiers; telephone number; and information regarding protected characteristics.
How We Use the Information
We use the information gathered to service your account and to provide you with additional information about products and services. Accordingly, your personal information may be used for auditing, regulatory reporting and retention, compliance testing, customer relationship management, portal functionality, research, data verification and analytics, problem resolution, statement fulfilment, and debugging purposes. The information we collect, as described above, may be shared (a) with our corporate affiliates in the financial services industry to enhance and improve customer communications, services, and products designed to meet our customers' needs; (b) with federal, state, or local regulators and self-regulatory organizations pursuant to applicable federal and state law; and (c) with third-party service providers and vendors that perform specialized services on our behalf and/or support our account maintenance and service capabilities by preparing and mailing prospectuses, reports, and account statements, conducting research on client satisfaction, gathering votes for shareholder proxies, and providing marketing, analytic, and processing services. Unaffiliated service providers have agreed not to retain, use, or disclose personal information for any purpose other than as contractually specified or as may be required by applicable federal and state law. We do not sell your personal information.
Policies and Practices to Protect Personal Information
Only employees that have a business need for personal information are given access to that information. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to protect your nonpublic personal information. For example, we take precautions to keep our information systems secure, including the use of firewalls for internet-based systems. When appropriate, we also use encryption technologies, user authentication systems, and access control mechanisms.
Notice to California Residents
Effective January 1, 2020, the CCPA grants a California resident (“consumer”) the right to request that a covered business disclose to the consumer (“Right to Know”) the following information collected about the consumer during the 12 months preceding a request: the categories and sources of personal information collected, the business or commercial purposes for collection, the categories of third parties with whom personal information is shared, and the categories of personal information shared with third parties for a business purpose. Personal information is defined as information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or household in California.
A consumer has the right to request that a covered business delete (“Right to Delete”) personal information regarding the consumer, subject to exemptions (among others, for personal information collected, processed, or disclosed pursuant to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and information utilized for solely internal uses as reasonably aligned with the expectations of the consumer based on the consumer’s relationship with the business). A consumer may also request a copy (“Right to Access”) of the specific pieces of personal information collected about the consumer during the 12 months preceding a request.
