George Marootian

Executive Vice President, Head of Technology Transformation

Natixis Investment Managers – US

George Marootian is Executive Vice President and Head of Technology Transformation at Natixis Investment Managers in the US. In this role, George leads strategic initiatives to transition mission-critical technology platforms across the business. His focus includes supporting the firm’s investment managers through the evolution of separately managed account (SMA) trading operations and collaborating with select Natixis affiliates on transformational technology programs.

He joined the firm in 2014 and most recently oversaw the technology function, which includes infrastructure, software engineering, production operations, data engineering, quantitative services, program management, and technology innovation. One of his key focuses was leveraging technology to create operating leverage for both Natixis and its US-based affiliate firms. George also led initiatives to modernize the firm’s operating model and enhance co-investment capabilities with affiliate partners.

With over 25 years of experience, George has been involved in the ideation, design, development, and operations of data and technology solutions, transforming them into revenue enablers. Before joining Natixis, he worked at Cloud Technology Partners (CTP), focusing on “all things cloud,” which included cloud as a business enabler for many of the Fortune 500 firms in the US. CTP was purchased by HP for $150M in 2017. Prior to CTP, George partnered with Eucalyptus, a private cloud provider, which was purchased by HP for $100M in 2014.

George received the 2018 BostonCIO of the Year® ORBIE® Award in the Global category* and has an extensive background in technology engineering, design, development, and management within start-ups and Fortune 500 firms. He holds a BS from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, with a focus on computer science, operations research, and applied math.

* In June 2018, the BostonCIO Leadership Association announced recipients of the 2018 CIO of the Year® ORBIE® Award, which honors chief information officers who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership, according to an independent peer review process led by prior ORBIE recipients.
