London, 12th September 2023 - Natixis Investment Managers (Natixis IM), one of the world’s largest asset managers, today announces the winners of its Global Equal Opportunities Advancement Scholarships, a program aimed at increasing the diversity of students entering the financial services industry in the UK. Three sixth form students from East Haringey have been selected to receive up to £9,250 annually towards their university tuition, along with internship opportunities and mentoring at Natixis IM.

The scholarship program, now in its third year, is aligned with Natixis IM’s 2024 strategic ambitions to be a responsible employer and create a more diverse and inclusive workforce. Each summer, the scholars will have the opportunity to do a paid internship at Natixis IM to gain hands-on work experience and explore working in the business and financial management field. Over the duration of the program, the scholars will be encouraged to identify and focus on areas of the business they find most interesting, and their internships will be tailored to reflect this.

“Our scholarship program reflects the long-standing commitment by Natixis IM to increase diversity in the financial services industry,” says Charlene Sagoe, International Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Natixis Investment Managers. “The program continues to go from strength to strength as we look to nurture the next generation of investment management professionals. In fact, this is a year of ‘firsts’ for the program: the first time three students have been chosen and the first time we have all female scholars. This signals the excellence of applications for the program, which makes it increasingly difficult to select candidates year on year, as well as the role the program can play in addressing the gender imbalance we continue to see in the industry.”

Britney Basuama, Jessica Kerollous, and Merveille Mukendi who all studied at The London Academy of Excellence Tottenham, have been selected as winners of the 2023 Natixis Investment Managers Global Equal Opportunities Advancement Scholarships. Britney will attend Royal Holloway, University of London, to read Economics, Jessica will read Accounting and Finance at King’s College London, and Merveille will attend the University of Nottingham to study Economics.

Britney Basuama commented, “I’m very excited to be a part of this program. Being selected for this scholarship will not only alleviate financial stress but give me a head start for personal growth within the corporate world".

Jessica Kerollous said, “I’m honoured to receive this scholarship, which will open doors to new opportunities and experiences and empower me to peruse my dream career.”

Merveille Mukendi said, “I’ll be able to enter university confidently knowing that Natixis is supporting me not only financially but emotionally and professionally with their mentoring and interning opportunities.”

The UK program is designed in partnership with Haringey Community Gold & The London Academy of Excellence Tottenham and supports students from one of the most deprived boroughs in London in their pursuit of higher education studies and career development in business related studies. Similar programs are also in place in Boston and Paris.
