Ostrum Asset Management

Euro Sovereign

A strategy invested exclusively in Eurozone sovereign and quasi sovereign bonds

Yoga stance

The philosophy

An actively managed Eurozone government bond strategy, seeking to outperform the JP Morgan GBI EMU Unhedged LOC (the “Benchmark”) through active management of duration, yield curves, and country allocation, with diversification in quasi-sovereign and inflation-linked bonds.

The strategy is managed in line with Ostrum AM’s "Euro bonds" investment process which is a fundamental active approach combining "top-down" and "bottom-up" analysis.

Reasons to invest

The Eurozone is rich in opportunities. Each country in the region has unique financial and non-financial characteristics. For some countries, the deficit is the greatest challenge, while others now have a surplus. There are also differences in ESG performance across the region. These differences impact yields, inter-market spreads and portfolio construction. To capitalise on these opportunities, the strategy is well diversified. It invests in all maturities and types of government bonds: Conventional, sustainable, inflation-linked and quasi sovereign.

Combining active conviction with a robust ESG framework, the strategy seeks to add value through:

  • Active duration management (1-to-15-year range)
  • Yield curve positioning
  • Country allocation
  • Smart diversification into inflation-linked bonds, supranational bonds and agencies.

Sovereign bond markets are constantly impacted by shifting inflation, fiscal policies, and evolving central bank decision-making. The investment team combines top-tier proprietary macroeconomic research with real-time risk management to navigate these changing cycles. By actively managing country risk, portfolio duration, and inflation exposure, the strategy is designed to mitigate downside risk and act as a resilient defensive anchor for your global portfolio.

Navigating the Eurozone's diverse government-bond market requires deep expertise. We leverage Ostrum AM's proprietary macro research to capture relative value across yield curves and country allocations, offering investors a highly liquid and resilient allocation.
