Active Index Advisors® Completes GIPS® Verification
- AIA is among the few tax-managed SMA managers to be third-party verified for GIPS compliance, meeting high standards for processes and procedures.
Verification is the review of an investment management firm’s performance measurement processes and procedures by an independent third-party verifier. Verification assesses whether a firm has complied with all the composite construction requirements of the GIPS standards on a firm-wide basis and that the firm’s policies and procedures are designed to calculate and present performance in compliance with GIPS standards.
“Becoming GIPS verified is an enormous milestone for us at AIA as it provides existing and prospective clients with a higher degree of confidence in the integrity of our investment performance presentations,” said Kevin Maeda, Chief Investment Officer at Active Index Advisors. “With discussions about fiduciary standards continuing to permeate across the industry, and with sponsor firms increasingly requiring that firms become verified, we are thrilled to have become GIPS compliant and verified this year.”
“We have known and worked with the team at Active Index Advisors for a number of years, and we’re pleased to have conducted their GIPS verification,” said John Simpson, Executive Vice President at The Spaulding Group. “As a supporter of tax-managed strategies, I am excited that they chose to establish and maintain compliance with the GIPS standards, and I am pleased they have achieved this milestone. Our firm looks forward to continuing to be AIA’s GIPS verifier in the future.”
GIPS standards have set forth criteria with regard to the knowledge requirements of verifiers in the areas of the GIPS standards, applicable laws and regulations, the organizational structure of the firm, the firm’s policies and procedures, portfolio valuation basis, and performance calculations.
