MV Credit, an affiliate of Natixis Investment Managers, has won the “Diversity and Inclusion Leader of the Year – GP Mid-Market” award at the Private Equity Awards 2021.

MV Credit, an expert in European private credit, is a majority female-managed firm, with 53% of senior roles held by women. “We pride ourselves in providing a home for experienced, talented women who have returned to work after taking time out to raise their families,” said Nicole Downer, Managing Partner at MV Credit. “Long before the onset of Covid, multiple members of the team have enjoyed part-time and/or flexible hours to maintain a work-life balance,” she added.

The 38 full-time MV Credit employees comprise at least 16 different nationalities and a variety of cultural backgrounds. The firm is dedicated to charitable causes across the world, providing mentoring and other support to young talented people from disadvantaged backgrounds. It also supports Natixis Pride Network and participated in the UK initiative #100blackinterns, which aims to diversify the asset management industry for future generations.

MV Credit fosters equal opportunities among stakeholders by working with third-party service providers who exhibit strong diversity and inclusion credentials. In the last year, it chose to work with two legal firms who excel in this sphere – Cleveland & Co, and Howlett Brown. Cleveland & Co is a female founded, female-majority legal advisory business specialising in outsourced legal counsel.

Downer, who is at the forefront of MV Credit’s diversity and inclusion initiatives, has also voiced support within the wider industry for better D&I practices. She challenges her peers to think creatively in collectively transforming the investment industry and speaks at events including the November 2020 “Women in Private Debt Forum” and the March 2021 “PDI ESG Roundtable”.

Lemy Gresh, Managing Partner at MV Credit, has also dedicated personal time to furthering D&I within the global asset management industry. He is a trustee at Life Generation Limited, which provides a platform to connect and nurture young professionals within the Lebanese diaspora, through scholarship grants and mentoring. Gresh is also chairman of the advisory board of Codie, a tuition-free NGO in Lebanon which aims to transform lives through teaching coding.
