The investment team managing Mirova’s innovative Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) strategy has been further enhanced with the appointment of Solène Navellou.

Solène joined the team in March, bringing with her 10 years of experience in sustainable and responsible investing, including more than six within the Agribusiness & Forestry team of the International Finance Corporation (the IFC), the private investment arm of the World Bank.

The Land Degradation Neutrality approach is an innovative strategy set up by Mirova, the responsible investment management company of Natixis, in conjunction with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. The strategy was created to make long-term investments in sustainable land management and in natural capital projects worldwide.

We are proud to have secured the services of Solène,” says Gautier Quéru, Investment Director, LDN strategy, at Mirova. “Her skills and experience are a great complement to our growing team of specialised managers who are helping to improve living conditions for millions of people, enhance the environment and combat climate change.”

At the same time, by investing in sustainable land use projects, our clients could access good returns with relatively low levels of risk.”

Solène joins an investment line-up at LDN that includes Gautier Quéru, Boris Spassky, Johann Fourgeaud, Caroline Bouquet.

Prior to working at the IFC, Solène worked at Investisseurs & Partenaires (I&P), one of the first French impact funds. Created in 2002, I&P focuses on the development of SMEs in Sub-Saharan Africa. She also held posts at Ardian, one of the largest private equity firms in Europe, and at Proparco, the private investment arm of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).

She has experience of working across different continents, including sub-Saharan Africa, where she spent close to four years in Johannesburg, and also in Asia, where she lived for two years based in Bangkok. She also has significant experience of the EMENA region (Eastern Europe, Middle East, and North Africa), in which she worked for three years.

Solène is also familiar with Latin America, where she volunteered for an NGO supporting the development of farmers in southern Brazil, and for a microfinance association specialising in the financing of the agriculture and education sectors in El Salvador.

Solène is a graduate of the Grande Ecole Program of ESSEC Business School, in Paris.
