April 09, 2025

Mirova has been named “Best Fund House – Impact” at the 2025 Asset Management Awards organized by Asian Investor, in the “Sustainable Investing” category. This award, granted by an editorial team and a panel of experts, highlights Mirova's excellence in responsible investment practices.

Selection Criteria of the Jury:

Key Achievements - Value-add for clients (40% of Final Grade)

  • Market Expansion: Mirova has implemented a proactive growth strategy both commercially and in its investment portfolio, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. The company has diversified its portfolio to meet the needs of investors and rapidly growing regions, such as India, where it supports SMEs1 in essential sectors like clean transportation and renewable energy.
  • Innovative Product Development: Mirova stands out for its ability to create both listed and unlisted investment products focused on biodiversity and societal well-being, combining positive impact objectives with financial profitability, in line with investor expectations.
  • Enhancing Capabilities and Outcomes: Mirova is committed to continuously strengthening its analytical capabilities by refining its ESG2 risk and opportunity assessment framework to enable informed investment decision-making, ensuring that each investment aligns with rigorous sustainability goals.
  • Improvement Research and Support Services: Mirova actively invests in the capabilities of its dedicated ESG research team as well as in academic research. Among its distinctive initiatives is the project to create a global database to assess avoided emissions, which is nearing completion and aims to provide increased transparency, allowing clients to better understand the impact of their investments.
  • Providing Unique Data and Tools: By using qualitative and quantitative indicators aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Mirova enables clients to track their performance against sustainability and social impact criteria, thus adding significant value to their investment experience.

Performance, particularly in terms of ESG impact (30% of Final Grade)

Mirova has experienced remarkable growth in assets under management, increasing from $7 million in 2016 to $33 billion by the end of 2024. This growth reflects the increasing trust of investors in its responsible investment strategies. Europe accounts for the majority of AUM, followed by North America and strong growth in Asia, where assets have more than doubled in the past two years. Furthermore, a significant proportion of its investments are classified with a high positive impact, far exceeding market standards, reinforcing its position as a leader in responsible investment.

Application of data, standards & established frameworks (30% of Final Grade)

Mirova integrates various regulatory frameworks and standards into the development of its products and services. Its alignment with the SDGs allows it to identify investment opportunities that generate both financial returns and positive societal impact. It also considers the European Taxonomy to ensure that its investments meet strict sustainability criteria.

Its active contribution to the Taskforce on Nature-Related Disclosure (TNFD) and participation in numerous collaborative initiatives demonstrate its commitment to evolving market practices toward more sustainable models.

Mirova employs rigorous monitoring mechanisms, including regular portfolio assessments against ESG criteria, reporting on engagements with companies, and transparent communication with clients. Each year, the company sets engagement priorities to focus on the most pressing sustainability issues, thereby enhancing its influence on the practices of the companies in which it invests.
