The New Geopolitical World Order
Rising populism, accelerating technological advancement, and global monetary policy are reshaping the world as we know it.

The inaugural Natixis Investment Managers Summit held on November 7, 2018 in Paris assembled an impressive array of world leaders, financial experts and global innovators to examine important social, economic and political issues impacting the world for generations to come.

So, what does the “new geopolitical order” mean for investors across the globe?

Hosted by Jean Raby, Chief Executive Officer for Natixis Investment Managers, the one-day interactive forum was designed to gather creative ideas and insights from 70 influential thinkers and political power players known for changing their industries and the world by thinking differently and taking chances.

The gathering stemmed from Natixis Investment Managers’ own corporate philosophy known as Active Thinking®. This brand platform is an ideology that encourages innovation and flexibility to challenge the status quo and surface new ideas.

"Active Thinking, for us, means that our investment managers pursue a rigorous investment process where they are not afraid to adopt and develop strong points of view,” Raby explained. “They are not afraid of zigging when others are zagging, and they try not to listen to the short-term noise of the marketplace.”

Summit highlights include:

  • Juan Manuel Santos, former President of Colombia and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, and Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and Prince of the Royal Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, exploring the complex state of international relations and its future impact on trade, finance, security, and human rights.
  • Former European heads of state Nicolas Sarkozy, Matteo Renzi and Gerhard Schröder, discussing their experiences, ideas for solving international challenges, and visions for the future of Europe.
  • Three political insiders sharing perspectives on the US mid-term election results and what they could mean for America, Europe and the world.
  • Two cybersecurity experts sharing safety tips and answering questions about corporate breaches, artificial intelligence, hacking, insider threats and data protection.
“The true success of our Summit will be the interaction it has engendered, the conversations it allowed, and the ideas it sparked,” Raby said. “We can all contribute to the changes we deem positive and we can all resist the changes we deem negative, individually, at the level of a company, and more efficiently, at the collective level.”
