As Chief Investment Officer, Listed Assets, Karen Kharmandarian leads Mirova’s listed assets platform, overseeing the firm’s listed markets investment activities and supporting the continued development of its sustainable, thematic and long-term investment capabilities. In this role, he is responsible for driving investment excellence across listed strategies while fostering close integration between investment and sustainability expertise.
A member of Mirova’s Executive Committee, Karen contributes to the definition of the firm’s investment priorities and long-term strategic direction, drawing on more than thirty years of experience across fixed income and equity investing, asset management and global thematic strategies.
Karen joined Mirova in 2026 as CIO of Thematic Equities, following the integration of Thematics Asset Management into Mirova. Alongside his leadership responsibilities, he continues to manage investment strategies directly, maintaining close proximity to markets, portfolio construction and investment teams.
Prior to joining Mirova, Karen was a Co-Founder, Partner, President and Chief Investment Officer of Thematics Asset Management, where he helped build a leading global thematic investment firm focused on identifying and investing in long-term structural growth opportunities.
Before co-founding Thematics, Karen spent fourteen years at Pictet Asset Management in Geneva. Initially managing High Yield Credit strategies, he later became a Senior Portfolio Manager within the Thematic Equities team.
Earlier in his career, he held investment and research positions at IXIS Asset Management, Aurel-Leven and Société Générale, where he began his career as a banking analyst in 1994.
Karen brings more than three decades of experience in portfolio management, thematic investing and global equity and credit markets.
Karen holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and a Master's Degree in Banking & Finance from Sorbonne University, as well as a business degree from Sciences Po Paris.
